This project was inspired by a two week long study tour, where I witnessed the bustling Tokyo lifestyle in contrast to the stillness of rural Japan.
I thought about the cross-section of hyper-consumerism and the traditional practice of religions like Zen Buddhism, and how they would manifest in a designed object if they were combined.
This lead me to one of my favourite consumerist experiences in Japan, Gachapon (although the vending machines are a close second), and the meditative act of dry garden raking.
